Learning from the First 10 Years of E-Mobility in Europe

The Department of Automobile Engineering, UVPCE-GUNI organized a webinar entitled “Learning from the First 10 Years of E-Mobility in Europe”. The session was delivered by Dr. Colin Herron, CBE (MD, Zero Carbon Futures, UK). Dr. Colin Herron has worked in the automotive industry for over 46 years including 16 years at Nissan in Sunderland. Dr. Colin launched Zero Carbon Futures (ZCF) as a not-for-profit, electric vehicle consultancy, with a principle focus of advising towns, cities, and governments on all aspects of how best to adapt to the introduction of low carbon vehicles. He recently facilitated the Mayor of London’s EV taskforce to shape London’s EV infrastructure requirements to 2025. The said technical session was conducted online via Zoom Meeting App. The entire session was coordinated by Automobile Engineering Department under the guidance and support of Dr. Kiran Amin and Officials of Ganpat University. Total 247 registered for the webinar out of which 220 participants (from GUNI and outside GUNI) including students, faculty members, research scholars and industry professionals from Gujarat and 8 other states of India attended this webinar. During his talk, Dr. Colin briefly explained about policies, myths and attitudes, Vehicle technology, Battery technology, Infrastructure both hardware and integration with the battery, business case for infrastructure, power generation to support EVs and forecasts for the future post COVID-19. Many questions were asked by attendees and all the questions were briefly and satisfactorily answered by Dr. Colin. Overall, the session was very informative and thought provoking and all the attendees found it highly useful.
