Skill Based Program VLSI

Skill India is a campaign launched by the Government of India under the leadership of Prime Minister. It aims to empower the youth of the country by providing them with the necessary skills to enhance their employability and entrepreneurship opportunities. The initiative focuses on training individuals in various sectors such as manufacturing, retail, healthcare, IT, construction, and many others.

  • Key objectives of the Skill India mission include:

National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) is a not-for-profit public limited company incorporated on July 31, 2008 under section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956 (corresponding to section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013). NSDC was set up by Ministry of Finance as Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. The Government of India through Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) holds 49% of the share capital of NSDC, while the private sector has the balance 51% of the share capital.
NSDC aims to promote skill development by catalyzing creation of large, quality and for-profit vocational institutions. Further, the organization provides funding to build scalable and profitable vocational training initiatives. Its mandate is also to enable support system which focuses on quality assurance, information systems and train the trainer academies either directly or through partnerships. NSDC acts as a catalyst in skill development by providing funding to enterprises, companies and organizations that provide skill training. It also develops appropriate models to enhance, support and coordinate private sector initiatives. The differentiated focus on 37 sectors under NSDC’s purview and its understanding of their viability will make every sector attractive to private investment.

Regulatory Body-NCVET

The National Council of Vocational Education and Training (NCVET), notified on December 5, 2018 has been set up as an overarching umbrella regulator establishing regulations and standards to ensure quality in the TVET space, subsuming the responsibilities of National Skill Development Agency (NSDA) and the erstwhile National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT).
NCVET regulated ecosystem will ensure strong industry interfacing, layered effective regulations for the varied stakeholders for improving outcomes, set standards for Awarding Bodies and Assessment Agencies.
Regulation of Awarding body ecosystem and Assessment Agencies are the focus areas of NCVET considering the existence of multiple regulators and non-standardized norms leading to quality issues and poor outcomes of the training. The NCVET will strive to integrate fragmented regulatory system and infuse quality assurance across the entire vocational training value chain, leading to strengthened outcomes.

The major functions of NCVET include:
  1. Recognition and regulation of Awarding Bodies (ABs), Assessment Agencies(AAs) and Skill related Information Providers
  2. Approval of qualifications as per the NSQF (National Skills Qualification Framework)
  3. Monitoring, Evaluation and Supervision of recognized entities
  4. Grievance redressal of the varied stakeholders

Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI)
Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI) is a Not - for - Profit Organization, registered under the Indian Companies Act, 1956.The Council has been promoted by Six Associations i.e. CEAMA, ELCINA, IESA (formerly ISA), IPCA & MAIT, ELCOMA, supported by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), ESSCI has been recognized by NCVET as an awarding body for ESDM sector.
ESSCI's focus is on establishing an effective and efficient ecosystem for developing and imparting of outcome-oriented skills for the Electronics Systems, Design and Manufacturing Industry (ESDM). ESSCI's mandate comprises plethora of deliverables including development of curriculum, courses, information database, and delivery system. ESSCI is responsible for standardization, accreditation and certification processes to enhance the employability of the Indian workforce globally.

ESSCI has identified different sub-sectors in Electronics industries, their skilled manpower requirement, with job roles and their training needs.

For imparting the specialized training according to different job roles, they considers the courses approved by NCEVT and create centres by joining hands with the Universities who are ready to run these specialized programs.

ESSCI has approved The National Centre for Training and Assessment for Electronics as an anchor centre at Ganpat University, Mehsana. Under this umbrella, ESCCI has allocated the target to the Ganpat University to offer a training program for job role “VLSI Design Engineer” under PMKVY 4.0 SP (Employability) scheme.

Advantages of VLSI Design Engineer (ELE/Q1201)
  • Participants will gain knowledge about VLSI design, design of SoC-  module using software and hardware tools.
  • They can be a part of a larger design team and can coordinate    with other design team.
  • This additional specialized training will make participants eligible for job role of   VLSI Design Engineer in many companies in India and abroad.
  • After the successful completion of this training program, certificate will be awarded by ESSCI.
