Shyam Iyer

Shyam Iyer is a Distinguished Member of Technical staff in Dell's Office of CTO for Servers & Infrastructure system where Shyam is leading a new path ,finding architectures and solution investigations for Dell’s award-winning PowerEdge Server products.

Shyam has 15+ years of experience Researching, Designing, Developing, Debugging, Validating, Leading and Driving System and Software solutions that have an industry wide impact.

Shyam is an expert at leading research concepts that turn into industry first products or influence roadmaps significantly. With 20 granted patents and 30 patent pending applications, Shyam is widely regarded as an expert in Kernel, Device Drivers, Operating Systems, Virtualization, FPGA/Hardware device definitions, system architecture, performance tuning, Simulation, characterization, Storage Networking protocol stacks, OS/BIOS interfaces, Systems management, CPU micro-architecture etc.

He regularly presents reviews/ solutions internally and externally with C-level execs/customers/developer-oriented audience and has presented his work at more than 10 conferences. Shyam also reviews ACM papers and has contributed to prestigious computing letters like SIGARCH.

Shyam  is fond of writing codes/reviews  and enjoys a healthy smattering of technical and business-oriented discussions. He is responsible for projects that translate to significant man-engineering years’ worth of work inside Dell and other companies. Shyam is currently leading and chairing the techiting nical work for an industry first standard specification that will impact computing and servers significantly.

Shyam received his B.E. in Electronics & Communications from U.V. Patel College of Engineering ‘04 and MS in Software Systems from BITS, Pilani ’09.

Shyam is based in Austin, Texas, USA where he lives with his better half Megha (also a UVPCE alumni) and their two lovingly mischievous boys Ved (11) and Anirudh (5).
