Nakul Vachhrajani
Senior Manager at Capgemini
Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat, India
(Alumni B.E. E.C. - UVPCE- 2004 Pass out)
I, Nakul Vachhrajani am a SAFe 4.0 Practitioner, Product Owner (PMPO), TOGAF 9 certified Technical Architect, Microsoft Certified Professional and systems development professional with Capgemini having a total IT experience of more than 15 years. I have also been awarded with an “Alumni Achiever Certificate of Honour” award by Ganpat University.
It was the year 2000 - the dawn of the new century; The world had just completed discussing Y2K; The 1st generation iPod was still more than a year away!
On the outskirts of Mehsana, near the tiny village of Kherva, something big was taking shape. When I started my Engineering in Electronics & Communications Department at U. V. Patel College of Engineering, Ganpat Vidhyanagar campus had just started with less than 5 buildings.
The integrated campus meant that learning was interactive with lots of time to think, to deliberate and to practice. Faculty and staff at Ganpat Vidhyanagar campus were encouraging us all - the students. They were truly friends, philosophers and guides. They chose to take the students through non-conventional methods of education. There was complete freedom to participate in competitions of all sorts, debates and meets of any branch.
This led me to an addiction. I enrolled in an Advanced Diploma in Information Technology from C-DAC, based out of an on-campus satellite centre. Me and my group of friends habitually visited and spent time in the laboratories and libraries of almost all branches of engineering. I was on the team of student volunteers behind the very first “CONVERGENCE” – a signature meet where the greatest minds from engineering schools across the country got a chance to be on the same platform.
The four years of engineering school made me realize that engineering is much more than semiconductors, circuits and technology. It is a way of thinking; a journey of life long learning.
After graduating in 2004, I started my career with one of the most iconic names in the Indian IT industry – Patni Computer Systems Limited. It was a company founded by the Late Mr. Naren Patni, the pioneer of Indian IT. While working, I pursued my Masters in Software Engineering from BITS, Pillani - a Patni alliance.
Today, I have more than a decade of dedicated experience on Data Quality, Data Management and Database Administration. I have a comprehensive grasp on data migrations to Salesforce.com, and product development, implementation and sustenance (including handling of production support escalations) on products using Microsoft Azure, Microsoft SQL Server and C, C++, Visual C++/C#.
I am the author of 12 technical articles on database technologies (published worldwide in edited journals & communities) and 3 whitepapers (one of which has been published nationwide). I am an active blogger (400+ blogs on http://nakulvachhrajani.com), and can also be found on forums at SQLServerCentral and Experts-Exchange. I have been a guest columnist for SQLAuthority.com and SQLServerCentral.com. I have also presented a webcast in Microsoft Virtual Tech Days and is a speaker at multiple local user group events.
In addition to my passion about SQL Server, I also contribute to academia out of my personal interest. I visit various colleges and universities as a guest lecturer, an external faculty to judge project activities of the students.
When not occupied with work, I prefer to lead a private life and like to spend time with my family. My hobbies include going for walks, listening to music and reading till late into the night.

In closing, the following words come to my mind:
“There is grandeur in this view of life, with its several powers, having been originally breathed into a few forms or into one; and that, whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been, and are being, evolved.”
~ “The Origin of Species” by Sir Charles Darwin
I feel happy and proud to see that Ganpat University continues to serve as a cradle where the next generation engineering talent is taking shape.
