GUNI-TiNKER CLUB

About Us

It is multi-disciplinary, multi-objective engineering students’ club dealing with exploring state of the art technology. Students from various disciplines work on same or other domain of his/her interest. The club, founded in 2018, aims to provide rare, costly equipment for development of advanced, application-oriented projects. Students get an opportunity to work in a team to solve complex problems. Creativity plays a major role to drive the club and hence, members are encouraged to implement their own unique, unintended ideas and work in desultory way.

Vision

To thrive students’ excellence by engagement in training, workshops, innovative projects and national & international competitions.

Motivation

It is observed that in domestic region students are lacking creativity and their most of the ideas are inspired from social media or participation in some competitions. The limited practical exposure and its connectivity with theory is lacking in their education. In order to prepare creative engineers in the country, it is desired to provide platform where students need advance challenges and showcase their creativity. These gaps have encouraged us to group like-minded students who feel bounded and can explore their own space in technical world.

Activities

1. Arduino Workshop

Arduino workshop plays significant role for training newbies as it is quick, hassle free and easy prototype development tool. It has been essential part of club activities since inception. Arduino workshop is organized for approximately 30 hrs during August to October every year. The Arduino workshop mainly prepare freshers to do some hands-on activities, participate in various TechFest and showcase their skills. The members undergo Arduino hardware & programming training includes interfacing almost 10 sensors, 8 actuators and 5 communication devices/protocols. Varieties of components like IR proximity sensors, Temperature Sensors, ultrasonic sensors, DC/AC/Stepper/Servo motors, Bluetooth etc. are included and have successfully prepared students for developing machines at larger scale.

2.Canon Bot Competition

GUNI TiNKER CLUB takes pride of its uniquely founded, in-house competition named ‘Canon Bot Competition’. The competition gives freedom to design mobile robot platform integrated with various electronic and communication devices. Thereby, knowledge gap of integrating all components in one system is being filled up. In this competition, students have to design and develop a bluetooth operated bot that can be guided to travel in predefined track. The bot should throw balls through the ring. The bot which has completed the specified task in least time and with highest firing range, is declared as the winner.

GUNI TiNKER CLUB organizes Canon Bot Competition since 2018, just after formulation of the club.

3. Projects

Students are encouraged to take industrial problem as projects and guided to built-up the solution. This activity makes students aware about the Industrial Challenges. Number of companies have been visited and problems are identified through observation. Then, prototypes or small-scale solutions are prepared considering complexities and cost. The developed solutions have been recognized by Industrial personal and appraised.

The small-scale projects developed include Domestic Elevator, Smart Home, Smart Inauguration Systems, Box counter, Mobile robots, Semi-automatic Cotton Harvester etc.

4. SAUVC

Singapore Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Challenge (SAUVC) is Singapore based international underwater vehicle competition organized every year since 2013. In SAUVC, teams need to build an AUV capable of performing four tasks: AUV navigation, visual identification, acoustic localization and robotic manipulation. All teams need to submit AUV working in video format. Then, shortlisted teams get a chance to represent their institute at SAUVC in Singapore. Team AQUA-UVPCE from GUNI UVPCE TiNKER participates in this event since 2020.  Currently, there are 10 active members of team AQUA-UVPCE. Students have explored many new aspects of underwater robotics including fabrication, electronics and control.
